Andy Robertson has requested a statue be built in commemoration of Mohamed Salah following the Liverpool legend’s departure at the end of the season.

The 33-year-old winger’s nine-year stay at Anfield is set to come to an end, walking away from his eye-watering salary a year early to leave on a free transfer in the summer.

Arriving from Fiorentina in 2017, supporters were underwhelmed by his signing, but 255 goals and 122 assists later, he goes down as one of the most iconic players in the club’s history.

Liverpool’s transfer plans are likely to shift after the news of Salah’s departure, but ahead of the summer, messages are piling in to wish the club legend the best of luck in whatever comes next.

Taking to Instagram (24 March), Robertson, who joined in the same summer, wrote: “Mohamed, thank you. 9 of the best years of our lives with amazing memories on and off the pitch.

“Watching you become the best at what you do and become one of the best to ever have worn the Liverpool shirt has been a joy to watch and be part of.

“Your mentality is second to none, and a lot of people could take note. You have pushed yourself every single day and always demanded more from yourself and others.

“A pleasure sharing the pitch with you for so long, but even more so being able to call you a friend. You deserve a send-off that reflects your status at LFC – the greatest. Second to none.”

Robertson joined the Reds in the same summer as Salah, and just like the winger, he has been continuously linked with an exit due to his age and dropping standards.

Football Insider understands that Robertson could be open to a Celtic move once the season ends, though there is nothing concrete in the rumours linking him with the Hoops.

The former Hull City full-back has made almost 400 appearances for the Merseysiders, but supporters have become concerned by the 32-year-old’s under-par performances at Anfield.

Milos Kerkez has also taken over the left-back role this season, so there should be very few concerns about filling his spot in the squad moving forward.

Multiple of Jurgen Klopp’s most important players are coming towards the end of their time at Anfield, and each time there’s an announcement, fans go through the emotional cycle again.
