Monday PM update on Liam Rosenior sack: Chelsea take stance after loss vs Everton - Exclusive
Chelsea are set to give manager Liam Rosenior “as much time as possible” to try and turn their fortunes around, sources have told Football Insider.
The 41-year-old is already facing pressure surrounding his position at Stamford Bridge, but it is understood that the club hierarchy are prepared to be patient and remain firmly behind him.
Sources say that the board have no plans to part company with Rosenior at this stage, after they previously felt that they were reluctantly forced into sacking Enzo Maresca back in January.
Rosenior still has six years remaining on his contract in West London when the summer comes around, and he is set to be afforded all the time he needs to steady the ship.
Chelsea’s managerial situation has changed continuously in recent years, and the board are keen to give their current candidate space to breathe in the job.

Chelsea board believe in Liam Rosenior’s ability
Rosenior arrived at Stamford Bridge as something of a surprise appointment in the early stages of 2026, but Chelsea’s BlueCo ownership have full confidence in his ability.
Todd Boehly and Co. deemed the young coach to be capable of making the step up to the Premier League, having led their sister club Strasbourg into the UEFA Conference League this term.
Manager Games W D L Win % Liam Rosenior (2026-) 19 10 2 7 52.63% Enzo Maresca (2024-26) 92 55 16 21 59.78% Mauricio Pochettino (2023-24) 51 27 10 14 52.94% Graham Potter (2022-23) 31 12 8 11 38.71%
However, the new man at the helm is already facing heat from both supporters and pundits in recent weeks, as he has been subject to criticism for his use of notes to players during games, and also the team’s new huddle around the ball before kick-off.
Nevertheless, the club hierarchy still feel that they have got the right man in place to help the team progress, and they are not ready to give in to the pressure from outside.
Rosenior could yet lead the Blues to Champions League qualification again for next season, with the fifth-placed team in the Premier League appearing almost certain to be awarded an extra spot.
What do Premier League clubs need for extra Champions League spot?
Premier League clubs are one result away from securing an additional Champions League spot for next year, with the responsibility to secure that now falling on Arsenal and Liverpool.
That duo are the only two English clubs remaining in the quarter-finals, and it was recently revealed that a solitary draw from that phase of the competition will be enough to secure the extra place for 2026-27.
That provides extra hope for Chelsea when it comes to their chances between now and the end of the season, as they are currently just one point behind fifth-placed Liverpool.
They still have to travel to Anfield before the end of the campaign, and as a result, they are likely to have a significant say in how the European placings look come 24 May.
