‘Move him on’ – Everton fans demand sale of ‘pathetic’ player after draw vs Leeds United

Everton played out a 1-1 draw with Leeds United on Monday as Thierno Barry rescued a point for David Moyes’ side.

The Toffees struggled in the first half and went into the break 1-0 down thanks to a goal from James Justin.

However, with Everton on the hunt for European football, Moyes made changes at the break that proved to turn the tide in the hosts’ favour.

Barry, who has hit form for Everton would eventually score the equaliser late on, and despite pushing for a winner, the Toffees were forced to settle for a point.

However, plenty of players had poor performances, particularly in the first half, with Dwight McNeil being called out by supporters for his lacklustre display.

Everton were absolutely dreadful in the first half.

The hosts were perhaps lucky not to be further behind after Leeds had plenty of chances to double their lead late on. However, one of the worst performers was McNeil.

The winger has worked his way back into starting XI in recent weeks and has been pretty solid for the Toffees.

This is despite McNeil being linked away from Everton on numerous occasions in recent months.

Yet, against Leeds, he was unable to replicate these performances, and he was substituted off at half-time for failing to make a positive impact.

As a result, many Everton fans took to X to call for McNeil’s sale at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

McNeil’s effort was also questioned by many supporters, with many deeming him to be at fault for the opener.

How bad was McNeil against Leeds United?

McNeil certainly had a poor game against Leeds United after struggling badly in the first period.

According to Fotmob on 26 January, he only managed 12 touches in the first half.

Here, he failed to have a single shot or create a chance.

In fact, he only managed to complete six passes out of eight attempted as he ghosted in the first half.

As a result, it remains to be seen if McNeil can keep his place in the starting XI going forward after a dire performance, with Moyes now needing to make a decision.
