Newcastle star 'should be sold as soon as possible' after 'shocking' display vs Aston Villa
Newcastle fans are growing frustrated with Eddie Howe’s insistence on continuing to play one star each week.
Howe’s side missed the chance to close the gap on the top five in the Premier League table, as Aston Villa left St James’ Park with a 2-0 victory.
The defeat was Newcastle‘s first in the Premier League for five games, with Villa scoring in either half through Emi Buendia and Ollie Watkins.
Newcastle failed to beat a club record against Aston Villa, with Howe’s team remaining ninth in the standings and four points behind fifth-placed Chelsea.

Newcastle told to ‘get rid’ of Anthony Gordon
Forward Anthony Gordon has been criticised for his performances for Newcastle this season, with many believing the 24-year-old should be contributing more goals and assists.
Gordon has only scored two goals and registered one assist in 18 Premier League appearances this season, with his poor form continuing against Aston Villa.
Howe has preferred Gordon down the left flank to the other options at his disposal, with Anthony Elanga on the bench against Aston Villa.
Gordon did not complete a successful dribble, only had one shot, took just 26 touches and produced just three accurate crosses before being replaced by Elanga in the 63rd minute of the match.
One fan has called Gordon a “huge liability” whilst another wants to see the England international sold by the club.
The Toon support believe Howe has “loyalty” towards Gordon which is “hampering” results and performances.
Newcastle reveal Anthony Gordon stance
Gordon has been linked with a move away from Newcastle in recent transfer windows, and he could still leave Tyneside in January.
Newcastle would listen to big offers for Gordon, who they bought from Everton for £45million in 2023, after he came through the club’s academy on Merseyside.

Arsenal have been credited with interest in Gordon, but are not expected to make a move to sign the forward in the January transfer window.
Liverpool are also admirers of Gordon, whom would not turn down a switch to Anfield despite his spell at Everton.
Newcastle had valued Gordon at close to £100m, and he signed a new long-term contract at the club back in October 2024.
