Odds slashed on Enzo Maresca to be next Premier League manager sacked after Stamford Bridge development
Enzo Maresca could become the next Premier League manager to lose his job in the coming weeks.
The Italian is under increasing pressure at Chelsea as his team have been unable to break free from the inconsistency that has plagued them since the start of the campaign.
Chelsea are now favourites to miss out on Champions League football for next season, with Liverpool having now leapfrogged them and gone into fourth spot.
Maresca was heavily backed in the transfer market once again over the summer, and it’s clear that the hierarchy at Stamford Bridge would have been hoping for more than the team to be fifth at the turn of the year.

Stamford Bridge woes leave Enzo Maresca in trouble
Chelsea were held to a 2-2 draw by Bournemouth on Tuesday night, as their issues on home turf continued right up until the end of 2025.
The Blues rank 13th in terms of the best home records in the Premier League so far this term, and they have endured a pair of hugely frustrating results at Stamford Bridge in recent days.
Rank Team Games W D L PTS 11 Bournemouth 9 4 4 1 16 12 Leeds 9 4 3 2 15 13 Chelsea 10 4 3 3 15 14 Everton 9 4 2 3 14 15 Crystal Palace 9 2 4 3 10
Maresca’s men were beaten 2-1 by Aston Villa last weekend, and would have had strong hopes of beating a Bournemouth side that are firmly on the slide.
However, they failed to secure a positive result from either of those encounters, and that appears to have put the manager’s position into further jeopardy.
Maresca’s odds have been slashed to become the next managerial casualty in the Premier League, with one major bookmaker now pricing him at odds of just 8/1.

That puts the 45-year-old as the joint-third favourite to become the next sacking, behind Nuno Espirito Santo and Scott Parker, and level with Thomas Frank.
Chelsea set for excellent chance to repair awful home record
Chelsea fans raged at Moises Caicedo for his performance during the draw with Bournemouth and it’s clear that frustrations have begun to set in at Stamford Bridge.
The West Londoners have managed just four wins from their 10 games on their own patch so far this term, and that simply isn’t good enough for a team that has ambitions of challenging at the very top of the table.
Date Opponent 17 January Brentford 31 January West Ham 10 February Leeds 21 February Burnley
However, they may never get a better chance to turn that awful home record around than their upcoming home run in the league.
A pair of London derbies are next on the agenda against Brentford and West Ham respectively, and they are followed by the visits of Leeds United and Burnley.
Three of those four clubs currently reside in the bottom five of the Premier League, which provides Chelsea with a perfect opportunity to rack up some points at home.
However, should their home struggles continue, the walls will surely only close in further on Maresca.
