Raheem Sterling set for last-minute Chelsea exit as odds slashed on Premier League move
Raheem Sterling could be set to finally leave Chelsea before the January transfer window slams shut next week.
It had looked as if Sterling was going to stay at Chelsea just last week, but the situation appears to have evolved in recent hours.
The Blues are desperate to arrange an exit for the winger, who has not made an appearance for them in almost two years.
Sterling has been linked with various clubs this month, including the likes of Newcastle United, Fulham, Crystal Palace and West Ham.
Leeds United looked to have a serious interest in Sterling, but a move has not materialised amid the arrival of Facundo Buonanotte.
Raheem Sterling to Fulham could be on
Sterling spent last season on loan at Arsenal after securing a deadline-day loan that saw Chelsea cover much of his wages.
The winger arrived with the promise that the best of him had not yet been seen, but the loan spell was ultimately a disaster.
Sterling scored just one goal in 28 appearances across all competitions, and made just seven starts in the Premier League.
His return to Chelsea saw him placed back into the ‘bomb squad’ under Enzo Maresca, with no exit in sight amid a stand-off on wages.
The arrival of Liam Rosenior has seen the other bomb squad member, Axel Disasi, return to training with the rest of the team.
Sterling has remained in limbo, however. That could be about to change, however, after Fulham‘s odds of signing the winger were slashed.

One major bookmaker has shortened the former England international’s odds of joining Marco Silva‘s team to 9/4, with West Ham (8/1), and Palace (10/1) seemingly out of the race.
What has Liam Rosenior said about Sterling situation?
In many ways, it has been sad to see the downfall of the once unstoppable Sterling.
The forward has only recently turned 31, and it was less than two years ago that he ended a season having scored 10 goals and provided eight assists across all competitions for Chelsea.
At Man City, Sterling was incredible. At his peak, he netted 48 goals across two campaigns for the Citizens, while providing 27 assists in that time too.
But his current situation at Chelsea persists, and there appears to only be one way out of it.
After his arrival earlier this month, Rosenior said: “I will have conversations with them [Sterling and Disasi]. We’re in January, as you know.
“Raheem’s had an outstanding career. I’ve got huge respect for him. Axel is someone I’ve really, really liked as a player for a long time.
“Honestly, I have to have a conversation with them. I have to have a conversation with the club. I’m being genuinely honest.”
Whether that conversation has convinced both parties that harsh negotiating stances must be dropped remains to be seen.
