Rasmus Hojlund sparks fury with message to Will Osula after Newcastle heroics vs Man United

Rasmus Hojlund has reached out to support Will Osula on social media after he netted the winner for Newcastle United against Manchester United on Wednesday night.

Osula scored an impressive solo goal in the 90th minute to win the game 2-1 for Newcastle against Man United at St James’ Park.

Casemiro had cancelled out Anthony Gordon’s penalty earlier on in the game, but the Dane made sure the hosts had the last laugh as he kept their European qualification hopes alive.

Michael Carrick has improved the Red Devils’ form and performances tenfold since his appointment as interim boss, but suffered his first defeat since returning in dramatic fashion.

United fans will be hurting after the Newcastle loss, and their anger will have increased after seeing loan striker Hojlund seemingly revel in their misfortune.

Rasmus Hojlund riles up Man United fans after replying to Will Osula on Instagram

Hojlund was allowed to leave United to join Napoli on loan last summer after struggling to make an impact in 2024-25, with the Serie A champions having a £38million purchase option that becomes mandatory if they qualify for the Champions League.

He has scored nine goals in 23 league games so far this season to help them into third place as it stands, making a clear improvement in new surroundings, compared to his Old Trafford struggles.

United fans slammed Hojlund on many occasions during the last two seasons, and some have taken his latest social media activity as a dig towards the club.

The 23-year-old replied to Osula’s latest Instagram post after his goal against the Red Devils with a wind emoji to signify the pace he showed to score on Wednesday.

Some United supporters took umbrage with the comment to his international teammate, with one asking: “You’re still a United player, did you forget?” and another saying: “One of the worst strikers to ever wear our shirt, shameless boy.”

Jacob Ramsey should not have been sent off against Man United

Newcastle managed to beat Man United despite playing with 10 men for the whole of the second half, after Ramsey was sent off just before the break.

The 24-year-old received a second yellow card for simulation from Peter Bankes, after seemingly diving in the area under pressure from Senne Lammens.

Former PGMOL chief Keith Hackett has told Football Insider that Ramsey should not have been sent off, as he did not make any attempt to deceive the officials with his fall.

He said: “I do not believe that the Newcastle United player has attempted to deceive the referee to win a penalty kick.

“In my opinion, his actions do not fulfil the criteria for an act of simulation, so he is very unfortunate to receive a yellow card followed by the red.

“Referee Peter Bankes has got this one wrong, making the judgment that the players act was simulation.”
