Revealed: Leeds to smash club record amid £70m+ prize money boost

Leeds United are expected to smash their club-record revenue following a significant uplift in prize money this season, sources have told Football Insider

The Yorkshire giants posted their latest accounts for 2024-25 last week, showing their revenue improved from £128million in 2023-24 to £137m in their promotion-winning campaign last season.

Leeds are currently on course to secure their Premier League status for another campaign as they sit 15th in the table and four points above the relegation zone.

Daniel Farke’s side would bank at least £120m in broadcast revenue if they maintain their current position, boosting the figure by more than £70m from last season’s £47m.

That would see Leeds’ overall revenue surpass £200m for this season as they continue to improve their financial situation at Elland Road.

How Leeds’ revenue increased last season

In terms of last season’s numbers, improved commercial revenue was a key reason behind the £9m increase in turnover.

Leeds’ commercial income surged from £43m in 2023-24 to £58m last season, with 49ers Enterprises looking to maximise sponsorship opportunities at Elland Road.

Meanwhile, matchday revenue rose slightly from £31m to £32m across the same period.

Broadcast dipped from £54m to £47m, but that was down to a decrease in parachute payments due to it being the Whites’ second campaign back in the Championship.

Alongside the huge increase in broadcast revenue this season, sources say matchday and commercial income are also expected to improve following Leeds’ return to the Premier League.

How Leeds’ FA Cup success is boosting financial numbers

Premier League survival isn’t the only aim for Farke’s side heading into the final weeks of the campaign.

Leeds secured a dramatic win over West Ham in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Sunday (5 April), providing them with a further boost in prize money and matchday income.

The Whites went 2-0 up at the London Stadium before the Hammers scored twice in injury time to send the tie into extra time, but the visitors claimed a 4-2 victory on penalties.

Leeds will now take on Chelsea at Wembley later this month for a place in the FA Cup final against either Manchester City or Southampton.

However, their immediate attention is on the Premier League, with a trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United coming up on Monday (13 April).
