Revealed: When Liverpool could agree deal to sign Crystal Palace player
Liverpool and Man United are both keeping a close eye on Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton as they line up moves to tempt him away.
The 21-year-old is seen as a top midfield target for both clubs who have been tracking his development in Oliver Glasner‘s side over the last two seasons.
However, as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, the England international will not be allowed to leave Palace this month.
The Eagles have already lost Marc Guehi, are preparing to lose Jean-Philippe Mateta, and are determined to prevent further upheaval in South London.
Instead, he is more likely to be available in the summer when Liverpool, Man United and more are expected to accelerate moves to bring him in.
Liverpool told they could sign Adam Wharton in the summer
Football Insider revealed on 31 January that Crystal Palace are bracing for interest in Wharton and are expecting bids to arrive in the summer window.
He will remain at Selhurst Park for at least another six months before inevitable bids arrive, with Liverpool and Man United the current favourites.
However, Man City and Real Madrid also want Wharton and could make rivals moves for his signature after scouts were spotted watching him at Selhurst Park.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “I don’t see Palace willing to let him go with everything else that’s been going on at the club.
“There’s no doubt there will be interest in Adam Wharton coming to summer transfer window.
“Liverpool are admirers of him, Manchester United are also admirers of him as well and there’s interest from other Premier Leagues and from abroad.

“Look, I’m sure Palace are readying themselves for interest and offers for Adam Wharton in the summer transfer window.
“They’ll face a real fight to keep hold of him in the summer window with the likes of Liverpool, Man United, Chelsea plus others probably all very much interested in the 21 year old.”
Could Virgil van Dijk leave Liverpool this summer?
Despite speculation about incoming players at Anfield, there have also been whispers that some of their current stars could be on the way out.
Virgil van Dijk’s inconsistent performances so far this season have led to suggestions he could be replaced, with the Reds looking at new centre-backs.
However, Football Insider revealed Liverpool have no plans to sell Van Dijk and he will likely see out his contract at Anfield which is due to expire in 2027.

This comes as Liverpool are keeping tabs on Micky van de Ven from Tottenham, as well as a number of left-sided defenders ahead of the summer.
Meanwhile, Ibrahima Konate is expected to leave Liverpool when his contract expires at the end of the season as he has snubbed multiple offers to renew.
