Serious Everton offer possible for defender Bayern Munich are ready to sell - report

Everton are still waiting to make their first signing of the winter transfer window, but the latest news is positive for David Moyes.

The Toffees have had a quiet month up to this point, with no additions and only a few fringe players being allowed to depart.

Everton beat Aston Villa 1-0 on Sunday to move up to 10th in the Premier League, and are still well within reach of the European places.

However, in order to push further up the table in the latter stages of the campaign, the Merseyside outfit will have to strengthen their squad.

Everton in race for Bayern Munich’s Sacha Boey

One of Moyes’ top targets for the winter transfer window is a new right-back, given the lack of options the Scot has in that position.

Jake O’Brien has been forced out wide for much of the season, despite being a natural centre-half, highlighting the need for reinforcements.

Nathan Patterson has done a solid job at right-back in recent weeks on his return to the starting lineup, but the Toffees are still keen to make another addition.

According to Kicker, Everton are in the race for Bayern Munich’s Sacha Boey, who has been put up for sale by the German champions as he no longer features in Vincent Kompany’s plans.

Boey is said to have fallen out of favour under Kompany due to disciplinary reasons.

Sacha Boey stats

While the Merseyside outfit are just monitoring the situation for now, there is a real possibility that they could make a serious offer in the near future.

Everton will have to fight off interest from the likes of Olympique Lyon and Olympique Marseille, among others, if they want to secure the French right-back though.

Who else are Everton targeting at right-back?

As well as Boey, Everton are also interested in both Juanlu Sanchez and Brooke Norton-Cuffy as they look to fix their right-back issue.

The Toffees tried to sign Sanchez, who currently plays for Sevilla, 12 months ago, and could include Patterson as part of a swap deal to bring him to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

As for Norton-Cuffy, it will take a fee of around £17million to prise him away from Genoa.

However, Everton will have to move quickly to get that deal over the line, with both Newcastle United and West Ham United also interested.
