‘Simply unacceptable’ – Nottingham Forest fans want Sean Dyche ‘sacked after the game’ vs Braga
Evangelos Marinakis is being urged to pull the plug on Sean Dyche as Nottingham Forest fail under yet another manager.
Forest have agreed terms to sign Lorenzo Lucca from Napoli, but sadly, not soon enough for their Europa League clash on Thursday, 22 January, with Igor Jesus sidelined for the game.
Before travelling to Portugal, Dyche’s side surprisingly drew against Arsenal at the City Ground, highlighting just how defensively solid the team can be at their very best.
The performances clearly do not translate across competitions, though, with the Reds hardly making a dent against their opposition in the Europa League and going behind in the second half.
Morgan Gibbs-White is often a game-winner for Forest, but on this occasion, the England international missed from the spot before Ryan Yates bundled home an own goal at the opposite end.
Nottingham Forest fans want Sean Dyche sacked imminently
Unsurprisingly, with the Tricky Trees near the bottom of the Premier League, and the chances of proceeding in the Europa League fading away, Dyche is under major pressure at the City Ground.
And watching the game unfold in Portugal, one fan said that “Dyche’s sack letter is getting printed out,” with “simply unacceptable” football being played away from home.
Going even further, another fan believes “every single fan that went tonight deserves a refund,” and very few will disagree with that sentiment after the scenes in Braga.
- @Logannffc01: “Every single fan that went tonight deserves a refund. It’s simply unacceptable. Hope the boos are loud and clear. Dyche is so far out of his depth it’s unbelievable.”
- @lucaswheat: “We are getting worse under Dyche. This is dire. How long can it continue? The longer he spends with this team, the worse the performances are getting. Dyche, stone and Woan can all do one, so far out of their depth and painful to watch.”
- @billio51: “When you speak to Dyche post-game, ask him what the idea is of playing like this? Is he being paid to upset the fans, or does he really think this is good?”
Who is leading the Premier League sack race?
Surprisingly, Dyche is not one of the favourites to be sacked next in the Premier League, but after watching scenes unfold in the Europa League, the odds could change.
Oliver Glasner, Thomas Frank, and Arne Slot are all under pressure at their respective clubs, with the former’s situation at Selhurst Park one of the more curious due to his outburst.
Not only was the performance disappointing, but his substitutions created more questions than they answered, especially with Nicolo Savona and James McAtee not replaced at half-time.
The decision to replace Dilane Bakwa with Nicolas Dominguez for the final 15 minutes also baffled many, and he is certainly not helping himself.
Starting without a recognised striker was always going to be difficult, but there is more than enough talent in the squad to get a result in the Europa League.
