Sources: Aston Villa star to reject Saudi move after club make him an exception

Youri Tielemans is ready to reject any offers to leave Aston Villa and move to Saudi Arabia this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The midfielder is on the radar of several Pro League clubs at the moment, but is not prepared to turn his back on Villa Park in order to secure a lucrative move to the Middle East.

Sources say that the 28-year-old feels that he still has plenty to offer in the Premier League, and is committed to helping the Villans continue their impressive project under Unai Emery.

Aston Villa’s transfer plans are set to see them try and strengthen their hand again ahead of next season, and they have already made it clear that they do not want to lose Tielemans.

Youri Tielemans totally protected at Aston Villa

Football Insider revealed earlier this week that Aston Villa aren’t willing to entertain the idea of selling Tielemans this summer, despite the Saudi interest creating a lucrative opportunity for them.

Emery and Co. are continuing to face issues regarding their PSR standing, but they are determined to try and resist the sale of any of their key players this summer.

There is an acceptance from within the club hierarchy that every player has a price, but an exception is set to be made for the former Leicester City man, who is deemed as being too important to lose under any circumstances.

Tielemans has been sidelined since 25 January with an ankle injury, and that has coincided with a dip in form that has seen Villa lose four of their last seven games in the Premier League.

They could net a significant profit on the Belgium international, having previously signed him on a free transfer back in 2023, but it is clear that there is little temptation of a sale at the moment.

Ex-Villa chief backs club to seal Brian Madjo registration

Former Villa chief executive Keith Wyness told Football Insider earlier this week that Villa “have a case” with their bid to prematurely register youngster Brian Madjo, with UEFA currently blocking them from doing so.

The 17-year-old Luxembourg international joined from Metz back in January, but is being deemed as an international transfer, despite the fact that he was born in England and has turned out for the Three Lions at youth level.

At the moment, Madjo cannot be registered to play for Villa’s first team until he turns 18 in January 2027, but Wyness feels that his former club should be able to overcome UEFA due to his place of birth.

The striker is unable to play for Villa at senior level until the issue can be resolved, but the club hierarchy are continuing to dispute the matter with UEFA to try and reach a positive outcome.
