Sources: Bobb gets green light to complete Man City transfer

Oscar Bobb looks set to leave Man City soon after Antoine Semenyo’s recent arrival pushed him further down Pep Guardiola’s pecking order in attack.

Bobb has struggled for game time and form at Man City in the last 18 months, after he suffered a broken leg in 2024 and was restricted to only making four appearances all season.

The 22-year-old was linked away from the club last summer after making a full recovery, but he stayed on and has featured 19 times in 2025-26 amid further injury concerns.

Football Insider revealed last month that Crystal Palace are eyeing a January move for Bobb, but his recent hamstring issue has plunged a winter exit into doubt.

Borussia Dortmund are also keen on signing Bobb, and as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, he is set to look for a move away this month to maintain his match sharpness ahead of the World Cup.

Bobb wants to leave Man City with an exit more likely after Semenyo’s arrival

Sources have told Football Insider that the Citizens could accept a permanent offer for Bobb this month, with Tottenham also named as a potential suitor of his services.

The Norway international has started just five Premier League games so far in this campaign, so a move away from the Etihad Stadium would need to provide him with increased game time ahead of the World Cup.

Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, I explained: “I think there’s a strong possibility he could leave, especially now following the arrival of Antoine Semenyo. It’s pushed him even further down the pecking order in Pep Guardiola’s plans.

He’s injured at the minute, so that might put a question mark over his possible departure in the January transfer window, but I don’t think it’s a serious injury.

I think for Oscar Bobb himself, he probably needs to be playing regularly after a couple of injuries and seasons which have delayed his development. He’s a top player, there is no getting away from that.

He’ll be going with Norway to the World Cup in the summer, so he’ll be keen to be playing regular first team football in the second half of season.

Savinho is now set to stay at Man City amid Bobb uncertainty

Semenyo has massively bolstered Guardiola’s attacking options as they aim to challenge Arsenal for the Premier League title, with both Bobb and Savinho’s futures looking uncertain at the start of this month.

Sources told Football Insider last month that City were planning to accept an offer for Savinho, with Tottenham lining up a move for his services.

Savinho suffered a quadricep injury against Sunderland on New Year’s Day and was forced off the pitch, with Guardiola later confirming that he was set to be sidelined for up to two months.

The issue has meant he has been ruled out of leaving the Etihad this month, with Bobb looking much more likely to depart as a result.
