Sources: Everton plan end-of-season David Moyes talks to agree deal
Everton are planning to sit down with manager David Moyes and discuss terms for a new contract at the end of the season, sources have told Football Insider.
The Toffees’ hierarchy view this summer as the “ideal” time to try and secure the boss’ future, as he is set to enter the final year of his current deal ahead of next season.
The plan is for the board to sit down with the 63-year-old and ensure that everybody remains on the same page about the direction that the club is heading in.
Moyes has led the Merseysiders back into contention for European qualification this season, and next year’s ambition is to take that step and secure a return to continental football.
Moyes’ work has transformed Everton since his return in January 2025, and he is seen as the right man to help the club reach its lofty ambitions in the coming years.

David Moyes ahead of schedule in The Friedkin Group’s plan
The Friedkin Group have been keen to get Everton back into a position where they are able to challenge the Premier League’s established elite again, and they are already well on their way towards that end goal.
The American ownership group invested heavily in the squad last summer, and the rewards for that investment have been clear to see on the pitch, with Moyes’ men still having an outside chance to get into Europe in the final four games.

Back-to-back defeats against Liverpool and West Ham respectively have dealt a blow to their hopes, but there is still an acceptance behind the scenes that the team are ahead of schedule in terms of the long-term plan.
Moyes has led the club on a clear upward trajectory after arriving and staving off a very realistic threat of relegation last term, and his reward is now set to come in the form of a new deal.
The move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium has been successfully navigated this term, and it has now opened the door to further opportunities for the future project, which Moyes will continue to lead.
Moyes must be clever with Everton transfer business this summer
Football Insider recently revealed that Everton will have a limited budget to spend on reinforcements to their squad this summer, placing an emphasis on Moyes and Co. spending wisely in the market.
The Toffees are accelerating plans to add a new centre-midfielder and a striker to their group in the early part of the summer, but both could come in the form of initial loan deals with the option to buy.
The problem position of right-back is also on the agenda to be strengthened, as Moyes and his staff try to build upon the areas that have lacked depth at times this season.
Everton want to continue progressing up the league table and re-establish themselves at the very top of English football, but there is an emphasis on steady progress at the moment.
