Sources: Everton told to pay £30m to sign striker target as PL rivals line up arrival
Chelsea will look to recoup all of the £30million fee that they paid for striker Liam Delap if they decide to sell him this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Everton are believed to be part of a whole host of clubs who are keen to try and sign the 23-year-old, but the Blues are yet to decide how they will handle his future.
Big changes are expected at Stamford Bridge, and sources have indicated that the imminent arrival of Emanuel Emegha from Strasbourg could see one of their current strikers sold.
The West Londoners agreed a deal to sign the Dutchman last summer, and the increased attacking competition is set to cast further doubt over Delap’s future
Chelsea’s transfer plans are expected to involve a significant turnover of players once again, and that could play perfectly into Everton’s hands.

Everton ready to exploit Liam Delap’s struggles at Chelsea
Everton were one of the many clubs that were hugely keen to sign Delap last summer, after he was relegated back to the Championship with Ipswich Town.
The Toffees ultimately lost out to Chelsea on that occasion, but things certainly haven’t gone to plan for the former Manchester City academy starlet since his move.
Stats Delap Totals Apps (Starts) 25 (11) Goals (xG) 1 (4.21) Goals per 90 0.09 Shots on Target per 90 1.03 Big Chances Missed per 90 0.37 Conversion Rate 3%
The youngster has managed just one Premier League goal from 25 appearances so far this term, and that has prompted serious speculation regarding his long-term future at Stamford Bridge of late.
Delap is not a popular figure among the fans, and Everton are looking to exploit that by potentially striking a deal for him this summer.
David Moyes has been a long-term admirer of the frontman and is desperately trying to bolster the attacking options at his disposal ahead of next term.
However, it has now become clear that any deal will not come cheaply for the Merseysiders, with Chelsea holding out to try and recoup every penny of the £30m that they spent.
Everton ‘favourites’ for Delap as Newcastle lurk
Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider at the start of April that Everton are the “favourites” to sign Delap this summer, despite links with Newcastle emerging of late.
The Toffees are leading the race for his signature ahead of the window, and they are also seen as being the better club to help him become a top-level talent.
A move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium would provide less competition for places than a switch to the North East, where the likes of Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa carry big reputations.
It remains to be seen whether Delap will be on the move this summer or whether Chelsea will decide to keep hold of him, but it is clear that Everton are well-placed to strike if the door is left open.
