Sources: Tottenham make new manager decision after Frank sack latest

Tottenham are prepared to allow Thomas Frank more time to turn their form around amid talk of Xavi being in line to succeed him as manager.

Frank is under pressure at Spurs right now following a troublesome first few months in charge since his move from Brentford to become their new manager.

Tottenham have picked up just 27 points from 22 Premier League games so far, and currently occupy 14th place after a run of one win in their last seven league outings.

Football Insider have revealed that Spurs have added Fabian Hurzeler to their managerial shortlist for if the Dane is relieved of his duties soon.

Xavi has also been touted as a potential replacement, but as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, all hope is not lost for Frank just yet.

Frank is to be given more time at Tottenham despite Xavi links

Xavi has been installed as the favourite to manage Spurs after Frank as he continues to search for a new opportunity in management.

The Barcelona and Spain legend has been out of work since the Catalan giants sacked him in May 2024 after two-and-a-half years in charge, even though he led them to the 2022-23 La Liga title.

Frank is certainly under pressure right now, but it is unlikely that Xavi succeeds him in North London anytime soon.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “For Tottenham, let’s wait and see what they decide to do with Thomas Frank.

Maybe he could turn things around there and keep his job, if not, I’m sure there’ll be a number of managers that they will look at, obviously Premier League based and elsewhere as well.

Xavi being a free agent makes him an interesting option for both (Man United and Spurs), but I don’t think he’s probably top of the list for either club if they do look to bring in new managers

Tottenham could lose Micky van de Ven this summer amid Liverpool interest

Van de Ven has been one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League over the last few seasons at Tottenham, with six goals in 29 appearances so far this term.

Sources have told Football Insider that Tottenham want to agree a new contract with Van de Ven soon, amid links to Real Madrid, but any interested club will have to pay a huge fee to sign him this summer regardless.

Football Insider have revealed that Liverpool are eyeing a move for Van de Ven this summer as they aim to bolster Arne Slot’s centre-back options.

Ibrahima Konate is currently set to leave Anfield at the end of his contract in June, and his potential exit could well see the Reds make a move to partner the Dutchman with his international teammate Virgil van Dijk.
