Stefan Borson: Marcus Rashford could make Man United U-turn under Tuchel
Marcus Rashford’s long-term future remains in the balance after spending the season away from Manchester United.
Rashford joined Barcelona on a season-long loan deal last summer, with the Catalan side holding the option to buy him for around £26million at the end of the campaign.
GiveMeSport journalist Ben Jacobs reported on 13 January Barcelona have held talks with Man United this month about signing Rashford on a permanent deal.
However, he revealed the La Liga giants would prefer not to trigger the option to buy and instead sounded Old Trafford chiefs out over a lower number, while also floating the idea of a second loan with a conditional obligation.
Michael Carrick has been appointed as Man United’s interim manager until the end of the season following the sacking of Ruben Amorim, who previously made it clear Rashford wasn’t in his plans.

How Marcus Rashford could agree Man United return
Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider Rashford could potentially return to Old Trafford if England manager Thomas Tuchel is appointed as the next permanent Man United boss.
Tuchel is among the favourites to land the Man United job, with Rashford earning his place back in the England squad under the German in recent months.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Rashford potentially returning to Old Trafford, Borson said: “The only thing you could say potentially is maybe Rashford has a great relationship with Carrick.
“I can’t see that there’s any possibility of breaking the loan at this point. Let’s say there’s no possibility of breaking the loan now, so the Carrick situation is a red herring. But let’s say the new manager has a great relationship with him.

“I don’t know, maybe Thomas Tuchel has a good relationship through England with Rashford. Then maybe he can come back. But in the absence of any competitive tension in that process, United are over a barrel.”
Barcelona could face issues financing permanent Rashford deal
It is believed Rashford is keen on securing a permanent move to Barcelona at the end of this season.
However, Hansi Flick’s side’s well-documented financial issues could prove to be a stumbling block in getting a deal over the line.

It is understood Rashford could have to accept a pay cut to join Barcelona permanently due to his £325,000-a-week wages.
The 28-year-old has registered eight goals and 11 assists in 29 appearances for Barcelona this season.
