Summer signing rushes Everton transfer, overpriced deal agreed - sources
Everton overpaid Villarreal for Thierno Barry in the last summer transfer window.
Sources have told Goodison News that the LaLiga outfit always believed the Toffees were “overvaluing” the French youngster, who was eventually signed for £27million at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The Blues paid more than what the 23-year-old was worth after his debut season in Spain, where he scored 11 goals in 35 league appearances.
David Moyes has relied on Barry in the current campaign, but the centre-forward doesn’t seem ready for the English top flight.

Thierno Barry advised against Everton move
Villarreal advised Barry against moving to the Toffees as they believed he was “rushing” things, according to a source.
The LaLiga outfit told the young centre-forward that he lacked the experience to play in the Premier League, and they’re now being proven right.
In the summer of 2024, the striker signed for the Yellow Submarine from FC Basel and made the switch to the English top flight a year later.
Barry only had a single year of experience at a major league and the hierarchy at Estadio de la Ceramica are right to feel the Merseysiders paid over the odds for him.
The Frenchman had a £34.5m release clause, and while the Blues negotiated a lower fee, it may still have been too much too soon for the young number nine.
Everton are now being linked with Liam Delap, who the Toffees wanted to seemingly sign before turning their attention to Barry.
David Moyes makes feelings clear on Thierno Barry
Barry has started on the bench in three consecutive Premier League matches, with Beto ahead of him in the pecking order.
The Guinea-Bissau attacker was impressive in the wins over Newcastle United and Burnley, but put in an underwhelming display in the 2-0 loss to Arsenal on 14 March, although the French youngster wasn’t any better either at the Emirates Stadium.

With eight games to go in the current campaign, it looks like Moyes doesn’t trust the former Villarreal striker to lead the line.
The Toffees are in the race to qualify for Europe, and if they achieve that goal, it wouldn’t be surprising to see The Friedkin Group invest in a quality goalscorer in the summer, which will surely leave uncertainty over Barry’s importance in Merseyside.
