Supercomputer predicts League One title winner after Cardiff City and Lincoln latest

Lincoln City are now comfortable favourites to win the League One title this season after their 2-0 victory over Cardiff City.

The two sides have been battling each other for the summit for weeks as they look to gain promotion to the Championship.

Both clubs should finish in the top two this season as they sit eight and 10 points clear of third-place Bolton.

Cardiff had been top of the table since November. However, Opta on 9 March has once again reaffirmed that Lincoln City should win the League One title.

Opta backs Lincoln City to win League One title

Lincoln have been magnificent in recent months.

The Imps are unbeaten since 22 November, and this run continued on Saturday as they cruised past the Bluebirds at the Cardiff City Stadium.

As a result, they leapfrogged Cardiff to go two points clear at the top of the table, and Opta expects Lincoln to retain this position come the season’s end.

The Imps have a 76.08 per cent chance of winning the title according to the supercomputer, with Cardiff having a 23.68 per cent.

The two sides are considered the only realistic challengers, with Bolton Wanderers the next highest at 0.16 per cent.

Who is tipped to make it into the League One playoffs?

Bolton, Bradford City and Stockport County are overwhelming favourites to finish their campaign in the playoffs at 92.78 per cent, 85.88 per cent and 72.30 per cent.

The question remains about who will finish in that sixth position.

As it stands, Stevenage are the favourites to earn their place at 42.50 per cent.

The Boro had looked to be on course for automatic promotion earlier this season before a poor run of form saw them dip down the table.

Following this is Reading at 40.32 per cent who have been on a great run in recent weeks.

Huddersfield Town and Wycombe Wanderers have not been ruled out of the race at 21.46 per cent and 21.40 per cent.

The Terriers looked to be on track to finish in the top six before a recent dip in results has seen this position look precarious.

In comparison, Wycombe have been great in recent weeks and are now back in the playoff picture.
