Thomas Frank asks for Tottenham sack in damning press conference

Thomas Frank provided further proof as to why he needs to be sacked by Tottenham with his comments after the draw at Burnley.

Cristian Romero’s late goal snatched Tottenham a 2-2 draw against a Burnley side second bottom in the Premier League.

Saturday’s performance and result took away any goodwill shown to Frank after Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League in midweek.

Tottenham fans chanted Mauricio Pochettino’s name at Turf Moor and took aim at Frank over the bland playing style, even if Spurs did score twice.

And it is now getting increasingly more clear that Frank, unfortunately, just does not get what being Tottenham manager means.

Romero’s goal came at the end of a game in which Axel Tuanzebe and Lyle Foster had cancelled out Micky van de Ven’s opener.

Had it not been for that late leveller, Frank may well have been out of a job before he could even conduct his post-match press duties.

As it is, though, the Dane spoke to the assembled media shortly after full-time in Lancashire – and his comments surely will not go down well with supporters.

When it was put to Frank that his side had produced another “bad performance” on the back of an encouraging display against Dortmund, he replied: “You said one more bad performance?

“I don’t think it was a bad performance. It was maybe not the result we hoped for. I think the performance, if you look at it throughout the game, especially the first half, was good.

“The way we ended the game, good. The second half was average, which you’ve seen many times.”

The fact Frank thinks the performance was good is quite frankly ludicrous. Burnley – who had just 19 points from 22 matches prior to Saturday – were seconds away from victory.

Frank is deluded if he thinks the performance was anywhere near acceptable. Those who watch Spurs regularly are already quite used to this now.

Jamie O’Hara gets it spot on with Frank comments post-Burnley

Former midfielder Jamie O’Hara expected Frank to be sacked by Tottenham after last week’s home loss to fellow strugglers West Ham.

That did not happen, but he has now reiterated those thoughts when speaking on talkSPORT on Saturday evening.

“Personally, I’d get rid of him,” O’Hara said. “I don’t think he’s good enough to be Spurs manager. But I don’t know what the answer is.

You sack another manager and need to bring another in – I don’t know where Spurs turn.”

As O’Hara points out, sacking a manager and finding a replacement is never ideal – especially when the season is in full swing.

But it has been clear for months now that Frank is not cut out for the job, so why delay the inevitable any longer?

A big game against Eintracht Frankfurt awaits in midweek, before a Premier League clash against Manchester City.

If Frank is still in charge come the end of next week, then the anger of supporters needs to focus solely on those higher up at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
