Thomas Frank sway at Tottenham stronger than anyone expected as exit blocked

Thomas Frank looks to be in control at Tottenham, despite the ongoing speculation over his future.

Frank has been under heavy pressure at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after a run in which Spurs won just four of their last 15 matches.

So far, though, he has managed to keep his place in the dugout, despite his side being out of both domestic cups and 14th in the Premier League.

It seems as though he still has the power after the latest transfer developments in N17.

Thomas Frank has final say as Tottenham exit denied

Radu Dragusin has constantly been linked with a Tottenham exit, but it appears that he will be going nowhere this month.

A report from Sportsmediaset on 22 January claims that Spurs have decided to keep the Romanian defender, rather than allowing him to join Roma.

It states that Frank wants four centre-backs and will only sanction a departure if a replacement arrives in North London.

Why Dragusin stance shows Frank has more sway than anyone thought

The 23-year-old seems like a prime candidate for an exit, with Jun’ai Byfield making a brilliant impression in the 2-0 win against Dortmund last time out.

However, it seems as though Frank is not willing to put his faith in the academy graduate just yet, and wants to keep Dragusin around, to make sure he has enough senior options at the back.

The fact that Frank is still getting the final say on transfers, considering how precarious his position is, will be a surprise to many.

The board could have made signings and sanctioned exits to plan for the possibility of sacking the Dane, but they seem to still be allowing him to make decisions on the squad.

The ex-Brentford boss still clearly holds a lot of sway, and the fact that they are letting him shape the squad himself suggests that his position is safe for now.

That could change in the coming weeks, if results do not go the Lilywhites’ way, but Frank has the power for now to shape the squad in the way that he wants to.

Now, he needs to make the right decisions to get his team in order and push them on to achieve their ambitions of a top-five finish in the league.
