Tottenham fans react to possible comeback vs Atletico Madrid – ‘Believe’

Tottenham Hotspur have a mountain to climb against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Diego Simeone’s team beat the Lilywhites 5-2 in the reverse fixture and will travel to North London on 18 March to defend their advantage and book a place in the quarter-finals.

Igor Tudor shared doubts over Dominic Solanke in his pre-match press conference, with the striker dealing with a small fitness issue, while Richarlison is suspended for the tie.

Spurs need to beat Atletico by a three-goal margin to force the tie into extra time and penalties, and fans in N17 haven’t lost faith just yet.

Tottenham can complete remontada vs Atletico

Tottenham supporters have every right to be dejected after the first leg, but there are those who still want to “believe” they have a chance.

It’s now up to the players to show that they have what it takes to turn things around against the Spanish club after a disappointing performance at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano.

While there is optimism among the fanbase, there’s also a section of fans who feel the three-goal margin is too much for the North London outfit to overcome.

Some of the Lilywhites faithful feel they can win the game against Atletico, but the LaLiga side may eventually go through.

Supporters will surely remember how Spurs came back from three goals down in the 2019 Champions League semi-final tie against Ajax to book a place in the final.

There are certain fans who have no hope for the Lilywhites and believe it’s better for them to get knocked out and focus on avoiding Premier League relegation.

Igor Tudor has selection dilemma vs Atletico

Tudor is dealing with multiple fitness issues at Tottenham, but is set to welcome back the likes of Lucas Bergvall and Destiny Udogie against Atletico.

Cristian Romero is also back in contention to start for Spurs after missing the 1-1 draw with Liverpool due to concussion protocols.

The Croatian manager will surely want to go with his strongest starting lineup at home to have the best chance of advancing, but he may risk further injuries in N17.

Some might argue Nottingham Forest’s trip to North London on 22 March is a more important fixture for the Lilywhites, with three crucial points up for grabs.
