Tottenham Hotspur: Stephen Warnock shares ‘biggest mistake’ that could lead to relegation
Tottenham Hotspur are fighting for their lives at the bottom end of the Premier League.
It has been a dismal season for the Lilywhites, who have burned through two managers and are now on their third in Roberto De Zerbi.
The Italian would pick up his first win at the helm last Saturday, with Joao Palhinha scoring a late winner against Wolves.
Though, they remain in the dogfight, with Spurs locked together with London rivals West Ham.
Looking back at the season as a whole, pundit Stephen Warnock has highlighted one error this term that has proven costly.

Igor Tudor named as big Tottenham blunder
Following the sacking of Thomas Frank back in February, Croatian boss Igor Tudor was placed at the helm until the end of the season.
Gaining a firefighter reputation for his work across the continent, Tudor arrived with the task of steering Tottenham away from danger – with the following scenario one that would have been unimaginable at the start of the season.
Stat Tudor Games managed 7 Wins 5 Draws 1 Losses 1
Picking up just one point in the league, while the Champions League win against Atletico Madrid counted for nothing, Tudor would lose his job after just seven matches in charge – prompting the arrival of De Zerbi.
Speaking on Football Focus, former defender Warnock labelled the appointment as a huge error.
“The biggest mistake Tottenham made was bringing in Tudor, before bringing in someone like [De Zerbi],” said Warnock
“If he’d have had the time that Tudor was given from then until the end of the season, I don’t think Tottenham would be in this position.”
Roberto De Zerbi to be trusted with Tottenham rebuild
Cutting his teeth in his native Italy across spells with the likes of Benevento and Sassuolo, De Zerbi made the switch to Brighton in 2022, taking over from Graham Potter.
Guiding the Seagulls to Europe that season, the Italian would deploy a side playing some of the best football seen in the Premier League, while his reputation as a boss skyrocketed.
Now in North London after a spell with French giants Marseille, he is the man trusted to mould Spurs in his image.

Arguably, the Lilywhites would not be in this position had he taken the job in February, as echoed by Warnock.
The current scenario leaves Tottenham with a handful of matches remaining to secure their future in the top flight.
And should they do that, De Zerbi needs to be trusted to lead the club forward into what would hopefully be a more prosperous era.
