Tottenham want record transfer for Aurelien Tchouameni as Joe Lewis ready to blow budget

Joe Lewis is planning for Tottenham’s success, with or without Thomas Frank.

Spurs drew 2-2 to Burnley on Saturday, with Cristian Romero once again potentially saving his head coach’s job after his late leveller.

Frank is under severe pressure and could be sacked following the draw, despite picking up a result against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League in midweek.

The Lewis family is determined to make Tottenham competitive again, and sacking the Dane may be a starting point.

However, it seems like the Lilywhites are already planning for life after Frank with Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni.

Tottenham send club-record proposal for Aurelien Tchouameni

Xabi Alonso has been linked with the Spurs job after the Spaniard’s recent dismissal from his post at Real Madrid.

The ex-Liverpool midfielder didn’t enjoy much success during his time at the Santiago Bernabeu, but one player who stood out for him was Tchouameni.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Tottenham, along with Liverpool, have sent proposals of around £85million to Real Madrid for Tchouameni.

The Lilywhites are already said to have conducted “extensive” research on the defensive midfielder, as Madrid are now internally discussing the offers.

Tchouameni is seen as someone who would immediately play an integral role in Spurs’ midfield, and has shown once again in La Liga this season why he is so sought after.

The importance of the 25-year-old in Alvaro Arbeloa’s squad has yet to be fully seen, and if Alonso were to come to N17 before the end of the window, Tchouameni could follow his former boss.

Tottenham would only have £14m left to spend after Tchouameni

Lewis has a transfer kitty of £150million this window, and the potential signing of Tchouameni would take up the majority of cash available.

Tottenham signed Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid in a deal worth £35million, as talk of Andrew Robertson’s move to the Lilywhites could include a fee

Conor Gallagher£35m
Souza£13m
Andrew Robertson (potential)£3m
Aurelien Tchouameni (potential)£85m

Spurs’ transfer budget could then go down to a remaining £14million if the tipped deals go through after Gallagher and Souza’s £13million arrival.

It’s heavy spending from the Lewis family, given the uncertainty around Frank, but it surely attracts potential new managers to the Tottenham job even more.
