Tottenham Women have seven stars ruled out vs Everton Women as award announcement made

Martin Ho has confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur Women will be without seven players for their clash against Everton.

The Women’s Super League returns on Sunday after a month off, with Tottenham sitting pretty in fifth.

Spurs are level on points with rivals and Champions League holders Arsenal, but the Gunners do have two games in hand.

Fresh off of manager Ho picking up the February Manager of the Month award, Tottenham will look to earn another three points, this time against his former club, Everton.

However, due to injuries and the absence of a handful of Tottenham players at the 2026 Asian Cup, Ho has a few decisions to make regarding his team selection.

Tottenham receive injury boost despite Asian Cup absentees

Ahead of facing Everton, 35-year-old Ho revealed that midfielder Drew Spence is in contention to play after serving her three-match suspension following a red card at West Ham.

And defender Ella Morris is now back in full training with the first-team squad after recovering from the anterior cruciate ligament injury she suffered in May 2025.

However, this game will come too soon for her. Moreover, Clare Hunt, Maika Hamano, and Toko Koga are all at the Asian Cup, while Maite Oroz, Jess Naz, and Luana Buhler remain long-term absentees.

Ho said on Friday, “Drew [Spence] is back, Ella [Morris] is in full training but this game probably comes a little bit too quick for her, but she’s training fully with the squad now. Apart from that, I think we are where we are.”

In other news, Ho addressed winning the WSL Manager of the Month award for the first time in his career, with the ex-SK Brann coach becoming Tottenham’s second head coach to pick up the award.

February began with a comeback win over West Ham, and despite losing at Chelsea, they then thumped Aston Villa 7-3 at Villa Park. But the diffident Ho said this award wasn’t really about him.

He told reporters, “The award is not for me, it’s for the staff, for the players, for the team and for the Club. It’s not just for me, I’m not the one who does the work, and I make that very clear.”

Ho, who was an academy player at Everton before becoming a women’s team assistant there between 2015-18, will hope to claim an important three points on Sunday.

Tottenham have chance to break new ground

Tottenham weren’t far off getting relegated last season, as they finished 11th in the WSL. That ended up costing head coach Robert Vilahamn his job after two years in the role.

Signing Ho was something of a punt by Spurs but so far, that decision has proven to be a masterstroke.

Tottenham are just four points off defending WSL champions Chelsea and have an outside shot of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

While they would have to finish in the top three to do that, this season will still be a big success if they can end up in the top five and pick up a couple more wins along the way.

After the Everton game, Tottenham are bracing themselves for a brutal run of fixtures against league leaders Manchester City, Arsenal, and second-placed Manchester United, in addition to taking on Chelsea in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

But for now, the club’s future looks bright.
