Video: How Besiktas honoured Wilfred Ndidi after his father’s tragic passing

Turkish Super Lig club Besiktas made a beautiful gesture toward Wilfred Ndidi after their game against Konyaspor on Saturday, Soccernet.ng reports.

​Last Tuesday, news broke that Ndidi had lost his father, Sunday Ndidi, in a car accident. He was hit by a car in Umunede, Delta State.

Ndidi's loss came just two days before his Super Eagles teammate, Samuel Chukwueze, lost his mother after a brief illness.

​The loss was undoubtedly a big blow to the 29-year-old defensive midfielder, who took to social media to express his grief.

​Ndidi has received many condolence messages since his loss. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), President Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and several of his teammates have all sent their sympathies.

​Besiktas' Kind Gesture to Wilfred Ndidi

​Despite losing his father just a few days prior, Wilfred Ndidi played for Besiktas in their 2-1 win over Konyaspor at the Tupras Stadium. In fact, he played 68 minutes for the former Turkish champions.

​After the game, Besiktas made a thoughtful gesture to show their support. A tribute was displayed on the stadium projector as a way to commiserate with Ndidi.
