View: Ally McCoist rightly calls out 0% Dortmund flop after what happened vs Tottenham
Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Brandt did Tottenham a big favour in the first half of their Champions League clash on Tuesday.
The Lilywhites welcomed Dortmund to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with Thomas Frank under major pressure of the sack.
Joe Lewis and Co. are watching Frank closely and could pull the trigger at any time in the coming days or weeks.
The Dane needed a positive start against the Bundesliga side with the likes of Xavi and Ange Postecoglou linked to the Spurs job already.
Frank got exactly that in North London and had Brandt to thank for getting the positivity going for the N17 outfit.

Julian Brandt hands Tottenham a gift in Champions League
Frank has been labelled as a “mess” at Tottenham, but will be much happier with what he’s seen from his side in the opening 45 minutes in the Champions League.
The hosts came out of the trap against the Germans and asserted their dominance from the very first whistle.
Spurs go in at the break with a 2-0 lead and a man advantage after Daniel Svensson was sent off for a high challenge on Wilson Odobert.
The Frenchman was involved in the two big moments of the half as he grabbed the assist for Cristian Romero’s opener in North London.
The winger looked to take aim with a volley inside the box and inadvertently created an opportunity for himself to get away from Brandt and get a cross in.
On second viewing, Ally McCoist couldn’t believe what he’d seen from the Germany international as he turned his back on Odobert’s initial effort.
Speaking on TNT Sport, he said: “I think this is all about Brandt getting caught on the wrong side. He just goes the wrong way. He takes his eye off the ball; there, he completely loses it, and for that split second, it costs him.
Then, in a stark message to the midfielder, he added: “Julian Brandt, do not turn your back on the ball.“
Brandt had a half to forget for Borussia Dortmund
He may not have been sent off like Svensson, but it’s fair to say that Brandt has cost his side as much as the Swede.
The 29-year-old has been largely disappointing outside of his error, with his gift to Odobert just summing up his evening in N17.
The German has taken just 19 touches, with which only 12 passes have been completed, which is hardly good enough for an attack-minded midfielder.
Stat vs Borussia Dortmund Julian Brandt Minutes played 45 Accurate passes 12 Chances created 0 Touches in opposition box 0 Defensive actions 0 Duels won 0
A long ball accuracy of zero per cent is just further proof of his frustrating showcase, something which wasn’t balanced out by his defensive work.
Brandt failed to complete a single defensive action and also lost every duel he attempted, so it’s no surprise that he turned his back on the ball and Odobert.
