View: Beto's top three Everton moments relived as move made for struggling striker
Beto appears to be nearing an Everton exit but his time in blue has had high some highs, too.
Despite sitting comfortably in mid table, Everton are one of the Premier League’s lowest scorers this season.
Even though he missed more than a month of the campaign due to the Africa Cup of Nations, Iliman Ndiaye is their joint-top scorer with four, alongside Thierno Barry.
While many are spurning chances in attack, Everton striker Beto has been heavily criticised by fans for his performances.
Amid reports of Beto leaving Everton for Juventus, Goodison News has put together a round-up of his best three moments at the Merseyside outfit since signing for them for £25.8million in August 2023.
Beto achieves Premier League lift-off for Everton
Back in December 2023, Everton were languishing in the relegation zone as fans grew weary of another relegation battle.
After a quiet start to life at Everton, Beto bagged his first Premier League goal in their 3-0 win over Newcastle United.
The former Udinese man picked up the ball 45 yards from goal, hurtled towards the six-yard box, shrugged off the backtracking Sven Botman, before tucking the ball in-between Nick Pope’s legs. Pace, power, and control.
Beto brace helps thrash Leicester City
In early February last year, Beto helped Everton secure three wins in a row as they thumped a sorry Leicester City 4-0 at Goodison Park.
The 6ft 4in forward outpaced Leicester’s defence and then fired a clinical finish past Mads Hermansen in the Foxes goal.
Goal number two came in similar circumstances, as he raced clear of Leicester’s centre-backs, before tucking the ball in with aplomb.
Beto scores in final Goodison Park derby vs Liverpool
If an Everton player scores against Liverpool, your stock goes up a notch or two. In Everton’s final waltz with Liverpool at their iconic Goodison Park, Beto opened the scoring with a poacher’s finish.
The 27-year-old caught the Liverpool defence napping, stole a march on Ibrahima Konate, and then slotted the ball past Alisson.
James Tarkowski scored a brilliant late volley to end the game in a thrilling 2-2 draw last February, in what was an unforgettable night at Everton.
Incidentally, Beto has been linked with a Fenerbahce move before the winter window shuts, while Youssef En-Nesyri could head the other way to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
In 96 appearances, Beto has scored just 18 goals, 10 of which came last season and three have been chalked up this term.
If Beto does leave, he will have banked some fond memories but Everton probably need a better number nine leading their attack for the future.
