Callum Wilson has been linked with a move to Everton.

We are now 25 days into the winter window, and Everton remain as one of only a handful of Premier League clubs yet to make any additions to their squad, despite the need for depth being obvious.

Several players have, however, been linked with exits, with Tim Iroegbunam the latest to be mooted for a move away from the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

With that said, the Toffees have been linked with several players, many of whom are currently in the Premier League, with one of those being Wilson.

West Ham stance on Callum Wilson exit could shift

Wilson would be a smart, yet perhaps uninspiring, transfer by Everton, who need a new striker to take them to the next level for the next few years.

At 33 years old, Wilson wouldn’t necessarily be that player, though he would bring goals to a side that have failed to score them consistently.

However, it was claimed last week that Wilson was set to stay at West Ham, having scored the all-important winning goal against Tottenham.

Now, that may have changed, with a report from Sportsboom stating that the Hammers have set their sights on signing Coventry’s Brandon Thomas-Asante.

It’s claimed that it will take a “mouth-watering” bid for the Sky Blues to consider an exit, but with West Ham still at serious risk of relegation, they may take the risk.

And if so, that could unlock Wilson’s exit from the London Stadium, with the Toffees one of several clubs credited with an interest ahead of the transfer deadline on 2 February.

What has Wilson said about his future?

For what Wilson lacks in technical ability, he certainly makes up for with his attitude and professionalism.

Both of those attributes have been put to the test at West Ham, with the Englishman having been handed just eight starts in a side battling relegation.

Given his situation, it would have been easy for him to down tools and agitate for a move, but instead, Wilson has stayed level-headed and reiterated the importance of doing so.

After he scored the winning goal for the Hammers against Tottenham, he said: “It was a brilliant moment, and it’s a good example of having a job to do and the importance of staying professional when you’re not playing as many minutes.

“If you keep working, you get your rewards, and hopefully this is something we can build on now.”
