View: Everton desperation surely makes complete sense after player contract update
Everton are in a position where they can’t let David Moyes lose any more of his key players at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The Scottish manager already saw a small exodus from his Toffees squad last summer after the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Abdoulaye Doucoure left as free agents.
As things stand, Michael Keane, Vitalii Mykolenko and Idrissa Gueye are among the influential members of the first-team squad whose contracts with the Blues expire at the end of the season.
The Friedkin Group are expected to back Moyes in the summer, but first they must tie down their players to new deals, and their desperation is clearly evident.

Everton restless in Vitalii Mykolenko contract talks
Mykolenko is yet to reach an agreement with the Toffees over a new contract despite several months of talks, according to TEAMtalk.
The news outlet reports on 9 March that the Blues are “feverishly” attempting to tie the left-back down to a new deal at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
It makes complete sense for the Merseyside outfit to be restless about Mykolenko’s future, considering the defender is seemingly seen as the only viable option in his position by Moyes.
The Toffees signed Adam Aznou from Bayern Munich last summer, but the young Morocco international has barely set foot on the pitch for them.
Jarrad Branthwaite and James Garner have featured at left-back at times this season, but they arguably can’t be seen as long-term solutions in that position.
David Moyes may have perfect Vitalii Mykolenko replacement on his radar
Everton have been linked with Myles Lewis-Skelly as the young prospect struggles for minutes at Arsenal this season.
After breaking through the Gunners’ ranks in the 2024-25 season, with his performances against Real Madrid in the Champions League mesmerising, the 19-year-old hasn’t been able to get into Mikel Arteta’s plans regularly in recent months.

Even if Mykolenko were to stay at the Blues, TFG could potentially have the opportunity to bring Lewis-Skelly to Hill Dickinson Stadium, which they should take with both hands.
The England international has a bright future ahead of him and could help Moyes bring success back to the Merseyside outfit.
