View: Everton given reason to pursue one-time target after stellar Europa League showcase
Jonathan Rowe could emerge as a target for Everton after his stunning showcase against Aston Villa on Thursday.
The England Under-21 international was linked with a Merseyside switch in the summer as he looked set to depart Marseille.
He did exactly that, but didn’t link up with David Moyes at Hill Dickinson Stadium, as he joined Serie A side Bologna for around £16million.
The forward has had a mixed spell in Italy but has certainly shown his best form in the Europa League this season.
That continued into his most recent clash against Aston Villa, which will surely have left Everton interested in signing Rowe in the future.

Jonathan Rowe steals the show in Aston Villa vs Bologna
It isn’t particularly unusual that a 22-year-old has already played for three different clubs across three different countries.
That has certainly been the case for the Norwich City academy product, who has recently featured in France and Italy in the past two years.
Year(s) Club Appearances Goal involvements 2025-present Bologna 35 10 2024-2025 Marseille 31 7 2021-2024 Norwich City 56 17
There is a chance he could be on his way back to England in the summer, after the Toffees previously showed interest.
Moyes and Co. won’t have any better reason to sign the winger after his dominant showcase for Bologna against Aston Villa in the Europa League quarter-final.
He was heavily involved in everything the Italians did as he clocked up six shots, created two chances and completed four dribbles before netting a late stunner.
The Englishman also won seven duels and was fouled twice as he represented a continuous threat to the claret and blue outfit.
Rowe was linked to Everton in the summer, and they could now swoop to sign him off the back of a stunning showing.
How has Rowe performed this season for Bologna?
The Blues were alerted to the potential of signing the attacker from Marseille in the summer, but opted against a move.
He instead sealed a move to Serie A, contributing 10 goals in 35 games across all competitions with Bologna.

That is a healthy tally for a young player in a new country and league, especially based on his struggles in Ligue 1 previously.
He has shown that he has the ability to cause problems for Aston Villa, and he could repeat that if he sealed a move to the Premier League.
Rowe’s showing in the Europa League could be the perfect come-and-get-me plea that could prompt Everton to bring him in this summer.
