Everton may have been getting ahead of themselves by thinking they were getting the big bucks if Newcastle were to sell Anthony Gordon.

The Toffees included a sell-on clause when they let the winger join Newcastle for £45million in 2023, where he has improved in the last few years.

After developments in recent weeks, it now seems like the Englishman thinks he is too big for the Magpies, like he did with the Blues, and is open to a move this summer.

Newcastle value the 25-year-old at £80million, with Bayern Munich and Arsenal both said to be interested.

Everton will make money from any Gordon sale, but it would take an offer of over £100m to be anything that would raise eyebrows from the Toffees’ perspective.

Everton look likely to bank £5.25m for Anthony Gordon

Bayern Munich may have a hard time trying to sign Gordon this summer, as Newcastle may be reluctant to let their star man leave.

The Magpies are aiming to have a much more successful summer window this time round, and cannot afford for their best attacker to leave off the back of Alexander Isak’s departure.

However, Howe may be helpless if Gordon wishes to leave, and if Newcastle’s £80m valuation is hit, money could come Everton’s way.

As highlighted by Giulia Bould, Everton would see a “small windfall” come their way from the 15 per cent sell-on they included for the scouser.

But this is said to be a sell-on for the profit that Newcastle would make, and if Gordon were to be sold for £80m, that works out as a small £5.25m win for the Blues.

How could the Gordon money be spent?

The Friedkin Group aim to back David Moyes once more this summer window, but the budget they will make available is currently unknown.

Moyes wants a new right-back and a fresh striker at a minimum, and a £5.25m boost from Gordon’s sale wouldn’t be groundbreaking.

That’s why it’s likely that the potential incoming fee could go towards the running costs of Everton, instead of the Friedkin Group having to inject an extra seven-figure fee of their own.

The Toffees recently published their accounts for the 2024-25 season, and another step has been taken in the right direction; small details like these in negotiations can have big impacts on the financial readings.
