Three games, three wins to start April – RB Leipzig have been on a fantastic run, securing their return to Europe and now even on course for the UEFA Champions League. This is due in no small part to the performances of Diomande. The speedy dribbler scored the decisive goal in the 1-0 home win against Borussia Mönchengladbach and also opened the scoring in the 3-1 victory in Frankfurt with a brilliant individual effort.
“We’re happy to have him in our ranks and not have to defend against him,” said Diomande’s teammate Ridle Baku after the match in Frankfurt. The Ivorian is in top form and showed in April that his qualities extend beyond dribbling and finishing. On average, he contested 30 duels per game and won 53.4 per cent of them. League-wide, he is the player who has won the most duels. With his team-oriented style of play, Diomande embodies a complete package that is rarely found.
