Everton still have a perfect opportunity to sign Harry Wilson on a free transfer.

The Wales international is edging closer to the end of his contract at Fulham and continues to be linked with an exit.

He will be available for nothing in the summer after a superb campaign at Craven Cottage, which has resulted in 17 goal involvements so far.

That has unsurprisingly sparked interest in his signature, with David Moyes’ side just one of many outfits throwing their hat in the ring.

The Toffees could make sure that they are at the front of the queue to sign Wilson after the latest developments from the Cottagers.

Fulham expect Harry Wilson to leave this summer

Reports have emerged on Tuesday suggesting that Aston Villa are now leading the race to sign the ex-Liverpool man this summer.

Fabrizio Romano suggested that the Villans have already held initial talks and are awaiting a final decision from the 28-year-old.

It has also been suggested by talkSPORT that the Welshman is “almost certain” to leave Craven Cottage when the window opens.

Moyes is said to be a big admirer of the attacking midfielder, which could help turn the tide away from Villa Park ahead of the upcoming window.

If the Scot wants to get hold of Wilson next season, he needs to do even more to make sure he can push a deal over the line.

Everton must hold Wilson talks of their own

Villa may have already had conversations with the attacker, but that won’t stop other sides from physicalising their interest.

Everton is one side who need to keep tabs, but also get into his ear and let him know what they can offer.

Moyes can certainly deliver more regular gametime to the ex-Cardiff City man when compared to Emery, especially if Villa qualify for the Champions League.

That could make a difference in the race to land the Fulham star, but the decision will ultimately come down to what he wants.

If the Toffees can step up and rise closer to the front of the queue ahead of the summer, it could make for a perfect start to the summer.
