James Garner is looking to become another Everton player to establish themselves in the England national team.

The 25-year-old made a positive impression on his debut for the Three Lions against Uruguay and has arguably firmly planted himself in Thomas Tuchel’s thoughts for the 2026 World Cup.

With the midfielder reproducing his Toffees heroics on the international level, interest will surely ramp up in him at the end of the season.

The former Manchester United ace possibly becoming a regular for England would certainly be bad news for the Blues in terms of their ability to keep him at the club for long.

Garner has thrived under David Moyes, but it won’t be long before top teams around Europe take notice and come knocking for his signature.

Garner put on a decent showing in Wembley, playing 69 minutes before being replaced by Kobbie Mainoo.

While the Toffees midfielder didn’t score or assist for the Three Lions in the 1-1 draw, he made four key passes, had 93 per cent passing accuracy and three of his five crosses found his teammates, as per Sofascore.

The Blues star had 59 touches, was fouled once, won two of his five tackles and six of his nine ground duels.

Comparisons have been raised between Garner and Real Madrid’s Federico Valverde after he stood out for Tuchel.

The midfielder’s current contract at Hill Dickinson Stadium runs until 2030, but a big enough offer could potentially entice the Friedkin Group, who are expected to back the Scottish manager in what may be a busy summer for the Merseysiders.

Garner has arguably been one of the best midfielders in the Premier League this season, scoring two goals and providing six assists for Everton.

The Englishman has contributed at both ends of the pitch and provided control alongside Idrissa Gueye and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall in the engine room.

As things stand, the Toffees are eighth in the league table, three points behind Liverpool, who will travel to Hill Dickinson Stadium for the first Merseyside derby in L4 on 19 April.

Moyes seems to be cooking something special at the Blues and Garner may be key in helping them achieve European qualification.
