View: Everton Women should be mindful of appointing Scott Phelan permanently
Everton Women made it four wins in a row in the Women’s Super League with a 2-1 victory at high-flying Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
The Toffees went into this clash at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as underdogs, with Martin Ho’s team fifth in the WSL, whereas Everton were eighth.
However, Scott Phelan’s side edged a deserved victory thanks to goals from Yuka Momiki and Kelly Gago, with Tottenham’s Signe Gaupset scoring in between.
That was interim boss Phelan’s third straight win in the league as they jumped up to sixth, 11 points clear of basement side Leicester City.
Calls are growing for 38-year-old Phelan to get the role full-time, but it may be prudent for Everton not to be hasty over a managerial appointment just yet.
