View: Moyes' patience will wear thin with 40% Everton struggler after lackadaisical cameo appearances

Everton‘s loan star Tyrique George has been unable to provide David Moyes with an extra attacking threat since arriving in the winter window.

The Toffees signed George on loan from Chelsea on deadline day, in a deal which includes an option to buy at the end of the season.

So far, the winger has had limited starts at Hill Dickinson, but that may be down to his lack of effect when coming off from the bench.

The 20-year-old has made eight appearances in total for the Blues now, and it’s hard to pick out his best performance.

Moyes is most likely unhappy with George, and should Everton lose to Manchester City this weekend, it would be no surprise to see the loanee removed from the squad for the remaining games of the season.

These stats prove Tyrique George isn’t up to it

Everton have discussed George’s buy option, and though the figure isn’t known, it’s likely to be over £10million.

The Englishman played an important role in Chelsea’s UEFA Conference League win last campaign, so there’s no doubt that the ability and potential are there.

George for Chelsea in Conference League

As seen in the table above, George was given eight starts for Chelsea in their Conference League-winning campaign, boasting an impressive 56 per cent dribble success, though his stats for Everton look different.

Moyes is very focused on the present, and Evertonians will know he has little patience for developing players, especially if they don’t give him a reason to play them.

The graphic above highlights the difference between George at Chelsea compared to Everton where he currently has a poor 40 per cent dribble success rate.

Perhaps the biggest takeaway from his statistics is that he has only created one chance for the Toffees this season, underscoring his lack of impact in cameo appearances.

This is what David Moyes may do with George next

Everton face Manchester City this weekend, and it will be a hard task to stop Pep Guardiola’s side, who are chasing another Premier League title.

If the Blues lose, depending on other results around them, they could find themselves at a major disadvantage in the fight for a place in Europe with three games left to go.

This could prompt Moyes to promote Braiden Graham to the first team, while removing George, who is unlikely to stay at Everton beyond this season, despite there being an option to buy.

Graham is Everton’s biggest prospect at Finch Farm right now, and Moyes may see the run-in as the perfect time to help the Toffees’ future.
