View: Moyes to come to blows with TFG as January transfer agreed elsewhere

Noa Lang emerged as a transfer target for Everton this month.

Everton secured a huge 1-0 win away to Aston Villa on Sunday, with Thierno Barry capitalising on an error from Emi Martinez to seal all three points for the Toffees.

It was only their second win from the last eight, which showcased the lack of options that David Moyes has to choose from at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The hope was that the Toffees would have added some new quality to their squad, though that has not been the case.

Lang was linked with a move to Everton in recent days, and the latest transfer news will no doubt have Moyes scratching his head.

David Moyes is getting no help at Everton

Lang would have been a great addition for Everton, especially when taking into account how little Tyler Dibling and Dwight McNeil have offered this season.

However, the Napoli star looks set for a move to Galatasaray, after verbally agreeing on a loan move to the Super Lig.

If that transfer goes through, it will be yet another target that the Toffees have seemingly passed up on, despite the clear need for reinforcements.

The Friedkin Group promised ambition, and while there was some of that shown in the summer, there has been nothing of the sort so far in January.

Moyes is, in all honesty, working wonders with what he has on the table right now, and the Scotsman will be growing increasingly frustrated with the lack of transfer activity.

What do Everton need to prioritise this month?

Despite Barry’s goal against the Villans, it remains clear that the Toffees need to recruit a new striker.

Beto has offered absolutely nothing this season, and while Barry has been far from the finished product, he still needs someone to complement him, and perhaps even take some of the pressure off him.

Aside from that, more depth in the wide areas is surely going to be a necessity.

With Jack Grealish and Iliman Ndiaye, Everton arguably have two of the best options in the league, but their options beyond that are arguably some of the worst.

McNeil has registered just one goal contribution in the Premier League this season, while Dibling has shown nothing to showcase he has what it takes to thrive in the top flight, at least not yet.
