View: Rangers fans will be thrilled as they top SPFL stat which could win them the title

Rangers have the best first-half record of any team in the Scottish Premiership.

Consecutive 2-2 draws with Livingston and Celtic left Rangers six points off the top of the Scottish Premiership table, and faith was dwindling among the fans.

However, a 1-0 win over St Mirren and a 4-1 demolition of Aberdeen has cut that gap in half, and Danny Rohl deserves immense credit for how he’s handled this tough period in the season.

The Bears have done a brilliant job to get back into the mix for the title, and they need to finish the regular season impeccably before the split.

Rangers are firmly in the title race, and with seven games left to play, they need to maintain their standards of starting games well.

Rangers start matches better than any other team in Scottish Premiership

Barring their 2-2 draw with Livingston in February, the Bears haven’t been losing at half-time in a league match in 2026.

Even in Rangers’ win over Aberdeen on Sunday, Rohl’s side were 1-0 up at half-time, before going into second gear and more after the break.

They have the best record of any team in the Scottish top flight in the opening 45 minutes of games, winning in 16 of them and only trailing in five.

In that period, they’ve scored 24 goals and only conceded 11, and the next team close to their points tally of 58 is Motherwell on 55.

Rangers’ first-half Scottish Premiership record

Of course, every team concedes late equalisers or winners, but the fact that the Light Blues have had to claw back such a big gap on Hearts and Celtic at the start of the season means they have to remain faultless in the coming weeks, especially when they are seeing out a lead.

If they switch off in the closing stages of matches, it will inevitably cost them the chance of winning their first Scottish Premiership title since 2020-21.

One lapse in concentration could prove disastrous, although Rangers are doing a fantastic job of starting matches well.

If the Bears can continue to startle opponents from the off, then there is a very good chance that fans in Govan will be celebrating silverware at the end of the campaign.

Rangers also lead the way for this brilliant attacking stat

In fact, the Bears have actually been phenomenal in finding crucial goals in big moments.

Although they lack a consistent goalscorer, several players have chipped in with key goal contributions to propel them up the table.

The Light Blues have failed to score in only five league matches, which is the joint-fewest of any side along with Hearts.

It’s not a shock that both teams are currently in the top two, with Derek McInnes’ side winning each of their last three home games by a scoreline of 1-0.

Rangers have proven themselves worthy contenders despite their squad’s inexperience and shocking start under Russell Martin.

And while a lot of factors come into winning the title, the Bears will definitely fancy their chances if they continue to find the back of the net in the opening 45 minutes.
