View: Stats reveal exactly why Everton's 34-app star has fallen out of favour with Moyes
Carlos Alcaraz has seen his Everton career take an unexpected turn this season.
When rejoining the Toffees this summer, the attacking midfielder most likely had high hopes that he would be a key player for David Moyes’ side.
Now approaching the last nine league games of the season, the Argentine has failed to cement himself as a starter for the Blues, with his future now seemingly up in the air.
Alcaraz hasn’t played much this season already, and his latest injury setback has only added to his frustrations at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Carlos Alcaraz’s all-time Everton stats tell the story
Everton paid £13million for Alcaraz in the summer, signing him permanently from Flamengo after he impressed at Goodison Park last campaign.
The former Juventus star started seven Premier League games for the Toffees, despite coming in on loan halfway through the season, which is one more than he’s managed with just nine to go this campaign.
As highlighted by Sofascore in the graphic below, Alcaraz averages 47 minutes every time he plays for Everton, which will have been significantly decreased through short cameos this season.
The graphic includes his combined stats from this and last season, with most of the success on display coming from the former.

Of his total 34 appearances in Blue, he averages a rating of 6.81, which, on the whole, isn’t too bad, and raises the question of where it has gone wrong. He has seven goal contributions to his name, which averages a return every 0.47 starts.
Everton fans have seen the misuse of the 23-year-old with their own eyes, and it seems like it’s all down to miscommunication between Moyes and the recruitment team, because his lack of involvement doesn’t make sense.
Alcaraz’s fortunes can change next season; this is how
Everton aren’t the type to cut their losses fast, and that could be the case with Alcaraz.
So long as Moyes is at the Toffees, the Argentine appears to be one of the victims who suffer from a lack of gametime to make space for others.
However, the Blues’ push for a spot in Europe is what he could still be holding onto, which would surely see his playing chances increase.

The Toffees aren’t far away, and qualification for any of UEFA’s competitions would mean Moyes may have to utilise his squad even more with the additional games that it would bring.
Alternatively, failure for European qualification could see Alcaraz sent out on loan, as the Friedkin Group may attempt to rebuild his market value before a potential future sale.
There is still an opportunity for the versatile forward to be a success on Merseyside, but his chances are looking rather slim.
