Quite a remarkable statement when you consider the fact that we are just over a week away from entering May.

There’s a case to be made that the long-term future of Spurs will be decided by these next five games, with the North Londoners likely to face severe financial issues if they are relegated.

However, the future of several youth players will also be considered, and after Lankshear looks set to suffer relegation with Oxford, he will be one of them.

Does Will Lankshear have a future at Tottenham?

Lankshear has had an excellent season with Oxford, despite their seemingly impending relegation to League One, having scored ten goals for them.

He showcased his physicality, ability in front of goal, and willingness to work hard for the team even in the hardest situations.

The Englishman will return to North London in a matter of weeks, where he could find himself relegated again, but this time with Tottenham.

Should that be the case, then Lankshear will almost certainly be the starting striker for Spurs in the Championship, though it’s unlikely he’d have the same role to play in the Premier League.

Would Tottenham survival spell the end for Lankshear?

Having just turned 21, Lankshear has still only made six first-team appearances for Tottenham.

That speaks volumes about where he sits in the pecking order, despite their struggles over the last 12 months.

If Spurs are to avoid relegation, that seems highly unlikely to change, and another loan move would make very little sense.

Survival would be huge for Tottenham, but it could be the end of Lankshear in North London.
