View: Why Garner’s England call-up may not be good news for Everton
James Garner’s call-up to the England squad may only serve to accelerate an Everton exit.
The 25-year-old has finally been recognised by Thomas Tuchel for his brilliant form for the Blues this season.
He has been named in the 35-man squad for the friendlies with Uruguay on 27 March and Japan on 31 March.
That will give him exposure to a wider audience and could boost his chances of making the World Cup tournament in the summer.
Garner’s Everton future may well come under the microscope again, which can’t be positive news for the Merseysiders.

What could happen with Garner after England call-up
Manchester United were well-known suitors of the Everton star, with the Red Devils constantly linked with a return for their former youth ace.
They were reportedly plotting a move for Garner, but the Blues man committed his future to the Hill Dickinson Stadium side, before they could do so.
Stats Garner (Premier League) Pass accuracy 87.5% Chances created 43 Ground duels 62.7% Aerial duels 65.7%
They may not be the only club that want to sign him, if he impresses for the Three Lions in the two friendlies and at the World Cup.
If he puts on the kind of performances that he does for the Toffees, then there may well be a queue of teams that want to add him to their ranks, which is not good news.
Why Everton may not be too worried
Everton can hold off interest as Garner signed a four-and-a-half-year extension in January, which should keep him in L4 until 2030.

However, his head may still be turned if the Blues do not secure European football next season, and if he goes to the World Cup and gets more exposure from the media and with top-class players.
He may start to think that he could do better than the Blues and push for a move, with England teammates potentially in his ear about joining their clubs.
However, the Toffees are in a solid position with his contract, if he does kick up a fuss and want to leave before that expires, David Moyes’ side can demand a huge fee.
That is just the worst-case scenario, though, he may well not be thinking about potential transfer interest at all and may well want to cement legendary status with his current club.
