West Brom fans furious with ‘scandalous’ Leicester City points deduction news
West Brom fans are not happy that more points haven’t been taken from Leicester’s current Championship total after they lost an appeal against their previous deduction.
Leicester were deducted six points in February after being found guilty of breaching the EFL’s profit and sustainability rules during the 2023-24 campaign.
The Foxes have struggled throughout this season, but the decision compounded their relegation fears and they have remained in trouble near the bottom of the second tier ever since.
Gary Rowett has not been able to change their fortunes on the pitch, with just one win picked up in their last 16 Championship matches.
They tried to appeal the points deduction to an independent board, but it was announced on Wednesday that they had failed, meaning they remain in the bottom three with five games left to play.
West Brom fans fume at Leicester not being given a bigger points deduction after failed appeal
Leicester fell from 17th to 20th after their deduction, and they are now one point and one place adrift of safety ahead of a huge final five games of the campaign.
They could face even more penalties in the near future, with sources telling Football Insider that Leicester have breached PSR again in their latest accounts.
West Brom sit 20th right now, with a four-point gap between the two clubs after their improved recent form under interim boss James Morrison.

Their fans have not taken the news of Leicester’s failed appeal well, with many insisting that they should have seen more points taken away for challenging a decision that was never likely to be reversed.
Taking to X, one said: “Lucky it’s only 6 in the first place. How they’ve got the cheek to appeal is scandalous. Get them gone.”
While another added: “(You are) lucky they (haven’t) docked you more for challenging it, should (have) snapped (their) hand off at 6 points.”
And one supporter wrote: “As a WBA fan who saw us try and abide by the rules and sell a load of decent players to rivals, I would have kept them and taken a six-point deduction, but with our team intact to probably finish the season ok by now. They should have been deducted more points for the appeal.”
Opta’s current Championship relegation predictions after Leicester decision
If Leicester had been given six points back, they would be almost safe with five points and two teams between them and the bottom three.
Instead, they remain in real danger of going down, with Opta’s supercomputer currently predicting a bleak outcome for Foxes fans this season.
They are being predicted to succumb to relegation alongside Oxford and Sheffield Wednesday, with a 58.52 per cent chance compared to Portsmouth’s 52.74 per cent chance.
West Brom currently have a 13.2 per cent chance of going down, while Blackburn have a slimmer chance of 9.08 per cent.
