West Ham may rethink Tomas Soucek stance as star hailed by Czech media after win vs Denmark
West Ham United may yet undergo a total U-turn regarding their willingness to sell Tomas Soucek this summer.
Football Insider revealed last week that the Irons are open to the idea of letting the 31-year-old leave at the end of the season, as he is about to enter the final year of his contract in East London.
The midfielder is no longer seen as the ideal fit to operate in the middle of the park for Nuno Espirito Santo’s team, and he could be shown the door regardless of which division they find themselves in next term.
Soucek has started in each of the capital club’s last five Premier League games, but he has not played as many minutes as he has in previous campaigns.
West Ham’s transfer plans are already in place for the upcoming summer window, but there could be scope for them to change after Soucek played a crucial role for Czechia in their play-off final win over Denmark.

Tomas Soucek steps up for his country in crucial game
Czechia booked their place at this summer’s World Cup on Tuesday, when they beat Denmark on penalties after a 2-2 draw at the end of extra time.
Soucek played from start to finish in the decisive clash, before stepping up to convert his penalty and help his team to victory in the shootout.
Stats Soucek Total Touches 44 Accurate Passes 25/32 (78%) Defensive Contributions 7 Tackles 3 Recoveries 4 Duels Won 6/11 (54%)
It was a stellar effort from the West Ham star as he and his teammates fought hard throughout the game, despite their visitors enjoying the majority of the possession and the chances.
Soucek’s performance has been recognised by the Czech media, with iSport suggesting that he took a “key role” in the midfield, and played “very well,” while covering the “right spaces.”
They acknowledged that the 31-year-old didn’t have his best game on the ball, but their review of his display highlights that he is still capable of stepping up in the big games, when the pressure is at its highest.
That may even prove enough for West Ham to rethink their stance on his future, as they will surely still have a need for a player of Soucek’s experience, to provide guidance for the rest of the squad and ensure that the standards remain high.
West Ham will do Soucek a disservice if they sell him
Football Insider recently revealed that David Moyes is keen to take Soucek to Everton again this summer, and the early indications from West Ham are that they may be willing to sanction a sale.
However, it could certainly be argued that they would be doing him a disservice by trying to show him the door.
Nuno has relied on Soucek in recent weeks despite his generally reduced role this season, and that is surely set to continue in the final stages of their relegation battle.
The veteran is exactly what is needed during a scrap at the foot of the table, as he wears his heart on his sleeve and pours everything that he has into each game.
If the Irons were to beat the drop and Soucek played a crucial role in that, then he would have every right to feel aggrieved if he was then moved on ahead of next term.
