West Ham told to accept '£30m' bid by finance expert
West Ham should sell Lucas Paqueta in the January window if a sizeable bid is made for the midfielder.
That is according to football finance expert Dr Dan Plumley, who has exclusively told Football Insider his verdict amid Paqueta being linked with a West Ham exit.
Brazilian club Flamengo could offer £30million to sign Paqueta, with the 28-year-old’s contract expiring in 2027.
West Ham would lose more than £60m in revenue if relegated from the Premier League this season, with the London club currently in the bottom three.

West Ham face ‘trade-off’ in Lucas Paqueta decision
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Plumley believes there is a “risk and reward” in whatever decision West Ham take on players in January.
“I think that these are always interesting scenarios that are caught like this in January because you’re looking at where they are in the league, and we talked about the financial downside of relegation, which would take £60m off the revenue line,” Plumley said.
“And interestingly, they’re the twentieth club in Deloitte’s top 20, so they are doing very well at the minute from a revenue perspective. But that will take a hit.
“I mean, everyone will have different opinions on what is a good fee, but let’s say you could get, maybe £30m or something like that for a player like Paqueta. Is that trade-off worth it in terms of, okay, we might really need him to help and to keep us in this league.
“But if we do let him go and that’s good money, we will safeguard the finances as well. So those are the kind of decision-making scenarios that the club will be playing out. But, you know, again, ultimately, money will talk.
“If it is a good offer and, of course, if the player is making any inferences that he wants to leave, it could be a good time to move on somebody like that, given the current circumstances because, you know, it is risk and reward, but I think the focus firmly for West Ham is staying in the Premier League.”

West Ham rejected by former Arsenal talent
West Ham have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Genoa right-back Brooke Norton-Cuffy, with the 22-year-old wanting to move elsewhere.
Norton-Cuffy does not want to move to West Ham, with the likes of Everton and Newcastle also interested in the defender.
The former Arsenal player is keen to return to English football and test himself in the Premier League after moving to Genoa in 2024.
