What Marc Guehi was seen doing at Emirates now makes sense as Arsenal ready sensational intervention
Arsenal are set to enter the race to sign Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, who will be available on a free transfer this summer.
Football Insider revealed on Thursday that Manchester City are ready to make an offer for Guehi this month, as they look to deal with a defensive crisis.
The Citizens have lost Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias to significant injuries, and are already without John Stones.
Chelsea are also expected to join the race for Guehi, who came extremely close to leaving Palace on transfer deadline day in September.
Liverpool had an agreement in place for Guehi, but the deal collapsed in the final hours of the summer window.

Arsenal enter race for Marc Guehi
Arsenal‘s depth in the centre of their defence is unmatched by any other team in the Premier League, and, arguably, Europe.
But it has been stretched this season. Every single option the Gunners have at their disposal has experienced some portion of the campaign on the injury table, with Mikel Arteta forced to experiment.
Arsenal – options at centre-back Status William Saliba Returned Gabriel Returned Piero Hincapie Fit Cristhian Mosquera Injured Riccardo Calafiori Injured Jurrien Timber Returned Ben White Returning
Key men Gabriel and William Saliba have now returned for Arsenal, however, and strong defensive performances have returned with them.
But Arteta would still like slightly more quality in depth. Piero Hincapie has featured extensively in the centre this season, but he was brought in to play on the left.
The same can be said of Ben White, Jurrien Timber and Riccardo Calafiori, with the latter currently out after suffering a slight injury last month.
With that in mind, the Mirror reported on Thursday that Arsenal have joined the race to sign Guehi when he becomes a free agent in the summer.
Guehi’s strange actions vs Arsenal now make sense
When Arsenal beat Palace in the Carabao Cup quarter-final last month, Guehi’s actions were put under the microscope.
The Eagles were dominated until the final moments, when the centre-back capitalised on a sloppy moment of defending to make it 1-1 and send the game to penalties.
A last-gasp goal to keep his team’s hopes alive – you would think a celebration would be prompted – but there was nothing from Guehi.
After Arsenal had won the penalty shootout, the Palace captain was seen on camera speaking to Bukayo Saka, Noni Madueke and Myles Lewis-Skelly, with the three covering their mouths to hide their words.
Was it simply a captain unhappy with his team’s performance, followed by a post-game chat with his England team-mates, or was there something more to Guehi’s actions?
The coming months will tell us exactly that, with the Gunners the latest in the line of clubs who want the defender.
