Are musicians richer than footballers? Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen settles debate

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has weighed in on the age-old debate regarding who earns more between footballers and musicians, Soccernet.ng reports.

​For years, fans have debated which profession generates more wealth. Stars from both professions frequently flaunt their success on social media, showcasing luxury vehicles, designer fashion, and expensive jewelry.

​Nigeria is uniquely positioned in this conversation, boasting elite football talent like Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi, Samuel Chukwueze, Ademola Lookman, and Victor Osimhen.

In the same vein, the nation has also produced global music icons such as Tems, Rema, Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido.

​However, the Galatasaray talisman appears to have settled the argument. As one of the most successful players to ever emerge from Nigeria, Osimhen’s brilliance on the pitch has not just earned him global recognition but also one of the most lucrative contracts in European football.

Currently, he stands as the highest-paid player in the history of the Turkish Süper Lig.

​Victor Osimhen On How Rich Footballers Are

​Victor Osimhen is currently in Nigeria on a short break, granted by Galatasaray following a hand injury which he sustained during their UEFA Champions League clash against Liverpool in midweek.

​As usual, he met up with content creators and social media influences. This time, Osimhen sat down for an interview with popular skitmaker and streamer Carter Efe.

​During the interview, the striker gave the content creator a tour of his impressive car collection, which includes a G-Wagon, Lamborghini Urus, Lamborghini Revuelto, and a Rolls-Royce Cullinan Black Badge.

Then, when asked who earns more between footballers and musicians, the Super Eagles star maintained that those in the football profession command higher earnings.

Currently, Osimhen is the highest paid Nigerian footballers. When converted to naira, he makes around 100 million daily, and this is just his normal pay and loyalty bonus.

But asides from their salaries, many footballers get travel bonuses, appearance fees, goals or clean sheet bonuses, win/point bonuses, squad bonuses for winning trophies or league finishes, individual achievements, sign-on fees, and many others. In fact, top footballers get paid by brands to wear their boots.

For most Nigerian footballers, getting a good club abroad automatically changes their lifestyle and family standings. But the big problem is breaking out, as only a few get to play football professionally.
