Barcelona 5-2 Sevilla: Akor Adams caged as Raphinha hits hattrick for Blaugrana
Super Eagles stars Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke featured for Sevilla on Sunday as they suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat at the hands of Barcelona, Soccernet.ng reports.
Adams led the line for Los Nervionenses, while Ejuke began the afternoon on the bench as the team visited the Camp Nou to take on the league leaders.
Given the pedigree of the Catalans, it was always going to be a daunting task, despite Sevilla having secured a 4-1 win in the reverse fixture earlier this season.

The Catalans got off to a flying start, scoring twice within the first 21 minutes. Raphinha was clinical from the spot, converting after Barcelona were awarded two early penalties.
Adams was full of running all afternoon but found little joy up front as the Barcelona defense kept him under tight wraps.
He did find a rare opening in the 28th minute, breaking through for a one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but Pau Cubarsí intervened at the last second with a perfectly timed challenge to snuff out the danger.
By the 38th minute, Dani Olmo added a third for the Blaugrana, effectively ending the contest before halftime.
Adams almost turned provider just four minutes later, playing a dangerous ball through to Alexis Sánchez, but the Chilean was unable to capitalize.
However, Sevilla did find a glimmer of hope just before the break when Oso found the net to give them a fighting chance heading into the interval.
Searching for a spark, coach García Pimienta made three changes at halftime, introducing Ejuke while hauling off Adams.

The tactical shift did little to stem the tide, as Raphinha and João Cancelo both scored before the hour mark to extend the lead.
Late in the game, Sevilla pulled another back through Djibril Sow, but it was far too little, too late. Ejuke struggled to influence proceedings during his 45 minutes on the pitch, and the whistle eventually blew on a dominant 5-2 victory for Barcelona.
Akor Adams Eyes Redemption Against Valencia
Next week, Akor Adams and Sevilla return to La Liga action in a crucial clash against fellow strugglers Valencia.

Back in front of their home fans, Los Nervionenses will be desperate to give the supporters something to cheer about.
The last meeting between these two sides ended in a 1-1 draw, and the upcoming fixture promises to be just as tightly contested.
Adams remains Sevilla’s top scorer this campaign with seven goals in 23 appearances, and he will be eager to find his shooting boots again to help steer his side away from the bottom of the table.
