Everton player ruled out for rest of season in 'significant' blow - report
Jarrad Branthwaite will not play for Everton again this season due to the injury sustained against Liverpool on Sunday.
The centre-back, who missed the first half of the campaign with an injury, was stretchered off the field late on in the 2-1 loss to Liverpool.
Branthwaite was seen clutching his right hamstring, with boss David Moyes later admitting he was concerned about the severity of the injury,
Having only returned to action in late January with an injury sustained in pre-season, Branthwaite’s campaign will now be cut even shorter.
And in yet more bad Everton injury news, the full extent of the damage is now becoming clearer.

Jarrad Branthwaite now in race to be ready for next season
Losing Branthwaite to injury is a big blow for Everton as we enter the final handful of Premier League fixtures.
The longer-term worry, however, is the England international missing the start of the 2026-27 campaign, which cannot be ruled out.
Jarrad Branthwaite 25-26 (PL) Statistic Matches 10 Minutes played 681 Tackles 13 Interceptions 11 Clearances 40 Total duels won (%) 68.8
In an update shared by Everton insider The Bobble via X on Tuesday, it was reported that Branthwaite’s injury is “significant” and will indeed rule him out for the remaining five matches.
Branthwaite will now see a specialist to determine if surgery is required. There is no indication one way or another if that will be the case, but if so it could impact his chances of being ready for next season.
It is yet another cruel blow for the 23-year-old, who would have been using this season as a chance to get himself into England’s World Cup squad.

It goes without saying that will now not be possible, even if surgery is not required.
Branthwaite injury blow raises bigger transfer question
With a fully-fit squad to choose from, Moyes has been blessed with central-defensive options this season.
However, Branthwaite – the best of those on paper – being injured changes everything.
With uncertainty over Michael Keane’s future, it raises the question as to whether a new centre-back is now needed.

As for Branthwaite on a personal level, talk of a £35million to a club like Manchester United will surely not be mentioned again this summer.
The only hope is that he can put these injury issues firmly behind him over the summer, get a proper pre-season under his belt without the distraction of a World Cup, and then come back stronger in 2026-27.
