Everton want £30m star again, but there's a 'red flag' - report

Everton are expected to look for alternatives to Chelsea striker Liam Delap in the upcoming transfer window.

According to The i Paper on 30 April, some at the Merseyside outfit are in favour of making another attempt to sign the English forward in the summer, but the decision is not unanimous.

The news outlet reports that the Toffees are likely to sign a new number nine ahead of the 2026-27 campaign, but the former Ipswich Town star’s struggles at Chelsea represent a “red flag”.

It has been claimed that Delap could be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge for £30million after just one season, but the Merseysiders are more likely to look for reinforcements in the European market due to inflated prices in the Premier League.

David Moyes wanted Delap last summer, but the ship to L3 may have sailed for the attacker.

David Moyes may have final say in Liam Delap deal at Everton

Moyes will surely be desperate to bolster his squad in the summer after suffering from a lack of squad depth at the Toffees.

While the Scottish manager has made some progress in L3, supporters will be left disappointed if the Blues don’t qualify for Europe, which now looks a strong possibility after back-to-back Premier League losses.

Despite Delap’s poor spell in London, the Scottish manager may well decide to take a punt on him, as he did with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

The former Chelsea midfielder has managed to revive his career at the Merseyside outfit and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the English striker do the same.

Hill Dickinson Stadium transfer priority evident after Thierno Barry antics

Everton have had to monitor Thierno Barry’s social media activity since his move from Villarreal, with his online antics clearly affecting his performances.

Beto and the French centre-forward have failed to shoulder the goalscoring burden at the Toffees this season, making the addition of a new number nine an evident priority for Moyes.

Apart from adding much-needed depth up front, the Blues’ two number nines surely need to experience competition for their places in the starting lineup.

The bright lights of Stamford Bridge seem too much for Delap to handle, and he may end up at the shores of the River Mersey soon.
